And These Three Remain
Using Faith, Hope and Love to promote unity throughout the Body of Christ
Special Edition

"8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." -- 1 Corinthians 13:8-13

The Future of One Body Ministries
A Personal Message From Todd Uebele

On 29 August, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the gulf coast in what is the costliest, most devastating natural disaster in U.S. history. Millions of people were affected by this storm; Millions lost their homes and everything they own. My family and I are among those millions. Our home was flooded with water, mud, and sewage. Not as high as some other houses in the area, but high enough to ruin everything we own save two carloads of miscellaneous items.

Since that time, we have been overwhelmed with kindness, love and generosity from our family in Christ. People have donated money, clothes, some medical supplies and water to my family and I as we sought to find out the condition of our home and gather what few items survived. Much was lost, but my family and I survived. Our house is not currently livable, but we are living with relatives until I can find a new job. The shipyard is up and running again; however after a long discussion we decided that if we were going to start over, we would start over some place else.

What does this mean for One Body Ministries?

In short, nothing much has changed. As far as the ministry goes, most everything survived. Some of the office equipment being used by the ministry was destroyed in the flooding, but the important papers were high enough that they survived, and all electronic files were backed up along with my personal electronic files.

The long term answer is slightly different. Given that my family and I are relocating, I will be devoting much of my time and energy into finding a new job and a new place to live. However members of this ministry have been very gracious and agreed to take over some of the functions to enable me to look after my family.

Andrea Strickland will be handling prayer requests. If you would like for us to place a prayer request on our website or in the newsletters, please contact her at astrickland@onebodyministries.com. The next newsletter message will be written by Tolani Ackinbade. If you have questions or comments, she can be reached at tolani@onebodyministries.com. Of course, if you have questions or comments about anything in this ministry, you can contact me at any time.

I cannot express my gratitude for the love and support you all have shown my family and I, and the prayers you have given on our behalf. Please continue to pray that God would be in control, and please pray for the residents who have lost all they own, family trying to get in touch with loved ones, and the individuals who are still in need of relief.

Hurricane Katrina Relief

While most of the stories about Katrina have moved off the newswire, there are still many people in need. Many people still need things like clothes, food, and even water. Church on the Rock, located in Pascagoula, MS, has set up a relief station and is giving direct relief to those in need.

While my family and I know first hand that many of you have given time, energy and money into hurricane relief efforts, I know that there are many people who are worse off than we are. As such, One Body Ministries has been in communication with Church on the Rock and has agreed to assist them in their relief efforts.

Money, toiletries, clothing and blankets can be sent directly to Church on the Rock at the following address:

Church on the Rock
Hurricane Relief Fund
3901 Chicot Street
Pascagoula, MS 39581

If you wish to make donations online, you can do so through the ministry's donation page. All donations received online through Thanksgiving will be donated to Church on the Rock to support their relief efforts. If you have any questions, please contact John Layman (jlayman@onebodyministries.com).
